Nate Gibson scored touchdowns on runs of 43, 2, 14, 35 and 62 yards on Saturday at Summit High School, leading Crosspoint Christian to a lopsided 44-8 victory against Dufur in the Class 1A (8-player) semifinals.
The Warriors, who have never played in a football state title game in the school’s history, scored on four of their first five drives and took a commanding 30-0 lead into halftime.
Dufur never truly found its footing, as the offense wasn’t able to respond until early in the second half — on a 1-yard dive by backup quarterback Choice Richards as Gavin Anderson was on the sideline tending to an arm injury.
