SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Domination is an understatement when describing Notre Dame’s win over Syracuse on Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium.
The No. 9 Fighting Irish rode a historic first half to a 70-7 victory over the Orange, scoring 49 points to set a new record for points in a half. It’s also the first time Notre Dame has scored 70 points in a game since defeating Haskell 73-0 on Oct. 8, 1932.
Notre Dame (9-2) led 21-0 before its offense even stepped on the field, as the Irish defense returned two interceptions and a blocked punt for a touchdown on Syracuse’s first three drives.
Once the Irish offense finally took the field, the dynamic running back duo of Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price put Notre Dame up 35-0 after ripping off touchdown runs of 45 yards and 58 yards, respectively.
