A man has been found dead in Canberra's south after shooting at police attempting to arrest him.
ACT Policing officers visited a house on Galloway Street, Isabella Plains, at 7.50pm on Saturday, November 22.
Police intended to arrest the 71-year-old man for serious family violence offences allegedly committed against his partner earlier on Saturday.
The 71-year-old fired multiple shots at police who returned fire and then barricaded himself in a shed on the property. He refused to engage with police.
The street was closed and nearby residents evacuated.
The AFP Tactical Response Team, Bomb Response Team and specialist negotiators attended the scene.
When police entered the shed at 11.50pm, he was found dead with suspected self-inflicted injuries.
A cause of death is yet to be determ
