Ja’briel Mace ran for 165 yards and accounted for three touchdowns as Villanova capped the regular season with a 34-10 nonleague win over Sacred Heart Saturday.
The win for Villanova (9-2) is its eighth straight overall, its 22nd straight at home and its 21st straight non-conference win in the regular season against FCS opposition over the last 10 years.
With Rhode Island’s win over Hampton Saturday, Villanova finishes second in the CAA standings, a game behind the Rams’ second straight title. The Wildcats await selection in the FCS playoff field on Sunday.
Mace carried nine times for 165 yards. He broke an 80-yard scored in the first quarter to put Villanova up for good at 7-3. He added a 19-yard rushing touchdown and caught a 10-yard TD pass from Pat McQuaide to put Villanova up 21-3
