OZARK COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) - A 16-year-old boy died Friday morning after being electrocuted by a sagging power line while hunting in the Brixey-Rockbridge area.
The incident happened around 9 a.m. when two teens were hunting and walking along a Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative power line easement, according to Ozark County Sheriff Cass Martin.
The 16-year-old did not realize the sagging line was energized and grabbed it, Martin said. The other teen rode an ATV to find cell reception and call 911, as the remote area had no cellular service.
First responders found the boy dead when they arrived at the scene.
The victim was a volunteer firefighter with the Brixey-Rockbridge Volunteer Fire Department, Martin said.
