The Portland St. Patrick football team completed perfection in a dominant way.
Jerryd Scheurer rushed for a score and threw for a score and Hudson King had a pair of touchdown runs while helping the Shamrocks capture the 8-man Division 2 state title with a 53-0 victory over Felch North Dickinson on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Northern Michigan’s Superior Dome.
The state title was the first for the Shamrocks since finishing as the Class D state champions in 1992. It also marked the first state championship for St. Patrick since it shifted to 8-man football. The Shamrocks had fallen in the title game in their previous three trips to the final.
