A student has died after being struck by a school bus in Rockland, Maine, on Friday afternoon.

Rockland police say they responded along with the fire department and EMS to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident that occurred around 2:20 p.m. on Broadway at the intersection of Eliza Steele Drive.

The victim, a Regional School Unit 13 student, was flown to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and later died, according to police.

Officials have not released the student's name, however NBC10 Boston affiliate News Center Maine reports that the victim's grandmother has identified him as 12-year-old Brayden Callahan.
