In a major breakthrough, Pune Police have uncovered a large illegal arms manufacturing and supply network operating out of Barwani district in Madhya Pradesh, leading to the detention of 36 individuals and the seizure of a significant stock of weapons, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The crackdown was launched in Umarti village—around 500 km from Pune—after city police recovered multiple pistols over the past three weeks. Investigations revealed that the weapons were being sourced from Madhya Pradesh, prompting a coordinated action with MP Police.
During the joint operation, officers destroyed nearly 50 illegal furnaces used to manufacture firearms.
