One week before Michigan’s showdown against Ohio State on the football field, the Wolverines’ hockey team put up a touchdown on the Buckeyes, and converted the two-point attempt.

The second-ranked Wolverines completed a two-game sweep Saturday with an 8-1 thrashing at Yost Ice Arena.

After a big third period to win Friday’s game 5-2, Michigan’s top-ranked scoring offense went back to work in the finale, scoring five goals in the first 28 minutes.

It continued to add on in the third period, including a pair of goals from captain T.J. Hughes. The senior scored the game-winner Friday and finished the series with five points, giving him 24 this season. That ranks second in the NCAA.
