FEDERAL WAY — The Seton Catholic girls soccer team came to Federal Way Memorial Stadium to win a state title.

And while the Cougars fell short of their goal, they did leave with a little school history and some well-earned respect.

Despite falling behind early, the Cougars battled to the end, falling to the top-seeded Cedar Park Christian 3-0 in the Class 1A state title game on Saturday night.

“We gave up that early goal,” Seton coach Antonio Buckley said. “We talked about it while watching film. They will shoot it from anywhere. But we had them pinned in for a while in the first half. If we had maybe scored one, it would have changed the game. But we battled. That’s a really good team. For us to come and compete like that, I was pretty proud of that.”
