TOLEDO, Ohio — With Thanksgiving just days away, shoppers are stocking up on holiday groceries — but many say their receipts don’t reflect the festive spirit. Despite recent claims from President Donald Trump that grocery prices are falling, shoppers in Toledo say they’re seeing the opposite.
“Everything is more expensive, meat is expensive,” said Monica McCain, who shops for her family of five. She said prices have steadily increased since January, leaving her skeptical of the president’s statements.
“I take exception to that because in our area I’ve seen no reduction in prices,” she said.
Other shoppers echoed the concern. Charles Schmidt said the only way to understand grocery costs is to experience them firsthand.
