CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Today marks the three-year anniversary of the mass shooting at Chesapeake Walmart, when a night of pre-Thanksgiving holiday shopping turned deadly.

Andre Bing, who worked as a night-shift team lead, began firing shots inside the Walmart on Sam's Circle, before killing himself.

At the time, Chesapeake Police said 50 people were inside the store when the shooting began.

Tyneka Johnson, Brian Pendleton, Randy Blevins, Kellie Pyle, Lorenzo Gamble and Fernando Chavez-Barron were killed in the shooting. They ranged in age from 16 to 70 years old.

Chesapeake Mayor Rick West says that Tuesday night in 2022 was unimaginable.

"It was just surreal. You just at the time never thought it would happen in Chesapeake," said Mayor West.
