Despite a minor improvement in average readings, Delhi's air quality remained "very poor" on Saturday, November 22.
The 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) for the larger Delhi and NCR was around 361, which is classified as "very poor", according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). A thick layer of smog was also noticed.
The situation was much worse in several neighbourhoods. AQI levels above 400 were observed in multiple areas, including Ghaziabad, firmly placing them in the "Severe" category. Ghaziabad registered an AQI of 422, official data show.
