Hawaii’s season came to an end tonight with Long Beach State eliminating the Rainbow Wahine from postseason play in a 25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 25-16 victory at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
A season-high crowd of 5,137 showed up for a win or stay home match for UH after UC Irvine upset Cal Poly in straight sets earlier in the day.
UH took its first set off the Beach this season, but ultimately faltered to finish the worst season in program history with a 12-17 record and 8-10 mark in conference play, finishing in a tie for sixth with the Anteaters.
UCI won the tiebreaker to advance to the Outrigger Big West Women’s Volleyball Championship by virtue of its three-set win over Hawaii in the only match between the two schools this season.
