Actor-politician Smriti Irani took a stroll down memory lane and recalled the time when she bagged the role of Tulsi Virani in ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.’ During her session ‘Kyunki Smriti Lekhak Bhi Hai’ at Sahitya Aajtak 2025 in New Delhi, the actor shared how fate, struggle, and persistence led her to one of Indian television’s most iconic roles.
She revealed that she had gotten the role of an actor’s sister initially in the show, but when Ektaa Kapoor saw her, she tore her contract and offered her ‘Kyunki’.
“Before I got Kyunki, I had actually gone to play another actor’s sister. I had borrowed money from my father, and the deal was that if I couldn’t return it, I would have to marry wherever he decided. So I was already stressed and fighting my own battles.”
