Our 54th annual Kona Coffee Cultural Festival came to a rousing conclusion on Nov 15. The 10-day event inspired visitors and locals to appreciate a gift that was given to Kona way back in 1828.

While attending the awards ceremony, guests mentioned that the Hawaii Tourism Authority’s funding for the festival had been significantly reduced over the past two years. That’s a really questionable move to me. If anything, HTA should be in full support of Kona coffee and its cultural festival. Their support helps spread the message that Kona coffee and its heritage have been something special in Hawaii for nearly 200 years.
