A Scots dad has passed away just hours before his family were set to celebrate an early Christmas with him. ‌

Grant Hardie, from Motherwell , was receiving end of life care after being diagnosed with bowel cancer earlier this year. ‌

His heartbroken wife Susan and 10-year-old daughter Autumn had planned to celebrate Christmas a month early at his hospice bedside on Sunday. But the 40-year-old tragically passed away on Saturday night. ‌

The tragedy came just hours after the Record told how big-hearted well wishers had brought Santa and a big sack of presents to Autumn's door as her dad's condition deteriorated rapidly.

Susan, 43, told the Record: "Autumn was so brave and has been my absolute rock.
