A warning has been issued to anyone who has robins in their garden as subzero temperatures and snow arrive in the UK for the first time this winter.

Garden wildlife experts are urging gardeners to provide robins, and other winter favourites, with food and drinking water over the coming months, especially as temperatures plunge.

It comes as snow arrived in the UK this week with Met Office warnings in place for several days in a row for ice, snow, sub-zero temperatures and even lightning.

And according to experts, the endangered bird species Red List has more than doubled in the past 25 years, attributed to the loss of habitats and the reduction in available food.
