The crime scene on Durham Street in Elswick

Forensics officers continue to investigate at a house in Elswick at the centre of an attempted murder investigation. A police presence remains Durham Street for the third consecutive day , with forensics officers seen entering and leaving the property on Sunday morning, carrying bags of what appears to be evidence.

Shortly before lunchtime, a tent was erected in front of the property. A man in his 30s was arrested on Friday night following what police described as a "serious assault" at a property on Durham Street.
