In a major blow to interstate drug trafficking, the Special Task Force (STF) of Kamrup district on Saturday intercepted two vehicles at Amingaon and seized heroin valued at approximately Rs 5.50 crore.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs that contraband was being transported from Manipur to Lower Assam, an STF team led by Kalyan Kumar Pathak, Additional SP (HQ), Kamrup, stopped a Renault Kwid (AS 01 FB 7240) suspected to be escorting a brand-new Tata Altroz without a number plate.

A thorough search of the Altroz revealed secret compartments containing 50 soap cases filled with heroin weighing 640 grams (without cover). The narcotics have been seized for investigation.

Four persons were arrested in the operation. Those apprehended from the Tata Altroz have been identified as Raju Giri
