A 77-year-old man learning to read is hoping he will be able to flick through a newspaper by the start of 2026 thanks to the help of an adult education centre.
Graham Hardy, from Hundon, is one of more than 400 people to have been taught at Eastern Education Group's facility in Haverhill since opening in November 2024.
The centre, in High Street, recently underwent a £2million boost and teaches a range of ages, with the oldest student in their eighties.
Mr Hardy is hoping to learn to read after leaving school and going straight into work.
“I’m pleased with my progress," he said.
"My aim is to read a newspaper – that is the plan. I’m doing quite well and I’m hoping by January that I can do it. The staff are fantastic. If you want to learn – come here.”
