OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a driver who killed a 71-year-old disabled veteran in a hit-and-run crash.
The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-colored sedan, likely a Kia or Hyundai, according to Oak Park Public Safety.
A crash was reported around 5:20 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, on West Nine Mile Road near Harding Street. Officers were told a man was down in the road.
Police arrived and located a 71-year-old disabled veteran who had been struck by a vehicle. Despite lifesaving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation indicated that the wheelchair-bound veteran was in the road when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle, which fled the scene after the collision.
