Support is on the rise for the family of a 41-year-old man killed in a crash on Route 80 last week.
A GoFundMe has raised more than $17,000 for the family of Michael Murphy, as of Sunday, Nov. 23.
State Police said the crash happened at 5:25 a.m., when a Toyota sedan operated by Murphy was traveling eastbound and struck the back of a disabled Autocar garbage truck in Roxbury Township on Friday, Nov. 21.
Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene, according to NJSP spokesman Jeffrey Lebron. The truck driver sustained minor injuries, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation.
Murphy lived in Blakeslee and leaves behind his wife and their 7-year-old daughter, according to the campaign organized by his sister-in-law, Tina Coviello. Coviello remembered Murphy as the "best father and husband anyone could ask for." He was the sole provider and now his family is in need, Coviello said.
