A major discount retailer has opened the doors to its latest North East store.

Boyes welcomed shoppers to its new shop at the Middleton Grange centre in Hartlepool on Friday (November 21).

An official ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at 9am, led by council leader Cllr Pamela Hargreaves.

The family-run store has created more than 16 new jobs just in time for the Christmas shopping season.

A spokesperson for the Scarborough-based firm said: "We’re excited to announce that Boyes has officially opened its doors at Middleton Grange Shopping Centre.
