Seven people were arrested after facial recognition cameras were once again deployed by police in Manchester's Piccadilly Gardens .

The two vans, supplied by the Home Office for use by police across the north west, were in Piccadilly Gardens and on Market Street in Manchester city centre for three days earlier this week.

There was a total of seven arrests over the three days, with four suspects now charged for various offences. This included one man who had been wanted for five years - since April 2020.

Greater Manchester Police said 18-year-old man wanted in connection with an incident in the Oldham area in May 2025 was arrested on suspicion of possession a firearm, and has since been released pending further investigation. View 2 Images
