Srinagar, Nov 23: As harsh winter sets in across Kashmir and heavy snowfall looms, residents of villages along the Line of Control (LoC) say their only dependable support during emergencies comes from the Army, with the civil administration often unable to reach these remote and snowbound areas.

Villages in the higher reaches of Uri, Boniyar, Kupwara and Gurez remain cut off from the rest of the valley for weeks every winter, leaving locals reliant on the Army for medical assistance, evacuation and restoration of road connectivity.
