Auburn did what it was supposed to do on Saturday, beating Mercer 62-17 to set the stage for next week’s Iron Bowl, an opportunity for the Tigers to clinch bowl eligibility.

Mercer gave Auburn some problems early, even taking a 14-7 lead in the first quarter. Interim head coach DJ Durkin admitted after the game that he had “rough conversations” with the defense after the slow start, but adjustments were made.

Auburn outscored Mercer 55-3 after going down 14-7 and a handful of players had impressive performances.
