LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A firefighter has been sent to the hospital after a house fire in Highview.

Fern Creek Fire & EMS responded to a home in the 7200 block of Apple Mill Drive in Highview around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Crews arrived at the scene to find smoke coming from the home.

While battling the fire, a firefighter fell through a “burnt out floor” and suffering minor injuries.

They were taken to an area hospital to be treated and for further evaluation.

No one inside the home was injured.

FCEMS says it took about 25 firefighters and 15 minutes to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire has not been determined but a spokesperson said the home suffered smoke and fire damage.
