SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Notre Dame’s blowout win over Syracuse on Saturday came at a cost, as sophomore linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa will be out for the rest of the year with a left knee injury.

The Notre Dame Football PR Team confirmed Viliamu-Asa’s season-ending injury on social media Sunday afternoon. The team also announced that fifth-year backup cornerback Chance Tucker will be out for the remainder of the season with a broken left tibia.

It’s unclear exactly when Viliamu-Asa suffered the injury, but he was seen on NBC’s broadcast in the second half out of uniform on the sideline.

It’s tough news for Notre Dame, as Viliamu-Asa is tied for third on the team in tackles with 48. He also had three sacks, two pass deflections, an interception and fumble recovery this season.
