CHICAGO — That once cozy lead the Steelers had in their division is gone, blown away along the city shores of Lake Michigan.
Historically speaking, that is nothing new when the Steelers come to the Windy City.
And they couldn’t even use the one player who has been the biggest pain in Chicago’s sporting side since Bill Laimbeer.
Just when it looked as though the Steelers might overcome their bad karma in Chicago, they lost to the NFC North-leading Bears 31-28 to drop into a first-place tie in the division with the Baltimore Ravens (6-5) — the team they once led in the AFC North race by 3½ games.
“The hourglass is going, and the sand is falling through,” defensive end Cam Heyward said. “There’s not a lot time for mistakes.”
