The union representing FDNY firefighters is calling for accountability after City Hall officials discovered 68 boxes containing information about Sept. 11 toxins, despite claiming for years that no such records existed, the Daily News reported.
Andrew Ansbro, president of the Uniformed Firefighters Association, said the discovery represents a potential betrayal of first responders who made critical health decisions based on assurances that no documentation was available.
“For years, our members made life-and-death medical decisions based on the city’s repeated assurances that the air was safe and there were ‘no records,’” Ansbro said.
