EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A Chandler resident and Indianapolis Clowns pitcher helped a kayaker stay safe after he was reported missing.

Vinny Santarsiero posted on his Facebook account the man showed up on his porch after his kayak flipped.

The kayaker was unknowingly helped by a local celebrity.

According to his social media accounts, Santarsiero used to pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Now, he’s on the roster for the Indianapolis Clowns.

In his post, Santarsiero says he gave the kayaker food, water and dry clothes while waiting for his daughter to arrive.

Warrick County officials say the kayaker was going down Pigeon Creek from Warrick to Vanderburgh county when was reported missing.
