A 71-year-old worker was killed Friday in a Bourne cranberry bog when a piece of equipment rolled on top of him and pinned him, police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

At approximately 8:26 a.m., police responded to reports of a workplace accident on County Road.

The worker had been “operating a piece of equipment in the cranberry bogs when it rolled over on top of him, pinning him under the equipment,” police wrote Friday on social media.

Officers and paramedics tried to administer CPR, police said.

The death is under investigation by police and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, police said.

Police said the department’s “thoughts are with the family, friends, and co-workers of the victim in this incident.”
