SOUTH BEND – With 7:08 left in the first quarter Saturday, Notre Dame's offense took the field for the first time against Syracuse.
The Irish led by 21 at that point.
The situation only deteriorated from there for the visiting Orange, who were helpless to stop the ninth-ranked Irish piling up style points in a 70-7 victory on Senior Day at Notre Dame Stadium.
It was the most points Notre Dame had scored since a 73-0 win over Haskell in 1932 and the largest margin of victory for the Irish a 64-0 triumph over Duke in 1966. The explosive performance served as a reminder to anyone on the College Football Playoff selection committee who might be wavering about having Notre Dame in the field – this team is good and getting better.
"We're a very dangerous team," Irish running back Jeremiyah L
