SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Notre Dame delivered one of the most dominant performances in program history, defeating Syracuse 70-7 over the weekend in a game that saw the Irish score their most points since 1932.

The last time Notre Dame put up 70 points was against Haskell on Oct.8, 1932, making this weekend’s performance a rare display of offensive and defensive dominance.

The game began perfectly for Notre Dame. The Irish scored 21 points before their offense took the field, capitalizing on two pick-sixes and a blocked punt returned for a touchdown to take a 21-0 lead.

Notre Dame held Syracuse scoreless until the game’s final minute, when the Orange scored a touchdown to avoid a shutout.
