The massive SkyCoaster ride at Morey’s Piers in Wildwood is closing after more than 25 years of operation.
Morey’s Piers and Beachfront Water Parks announced the retirement of the towering pendulum ride on social media Sunday.
“Thank you to everyone who faced their fears and took the leap with us!” the company said. “As we say goodbye to this iconic ride, we’re already hard at work reimagining Adventure Pier so that there can be many more adventures to come in future years.”
The ride launched flyers from a height of over 100 feet and sent them soaring out over Wildwood’s beaches, suspended by a pair of steel towers.
Described as part skydiving and part hang-gliding, the SkyCoaster could accommodate up to three people at a time.
Morey’s operates three piers on Wildwood’s boardwalk.
