NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. — Newberry County authorities are investigating after two small children were found shot on Sunday evening.

The Newberry County Sheriff's Office said 911 dispatchers received a call around 6:30 p.m. regarding a child who had been shot at a home on Wilson Road just outside of the city of Newberry.

As deputies were responding, authorities said 911 dispatchers learned that another child may have also been hurt. Arriving deputies found two children, ages two and three, with gunshot wounds. The sheriff's office said one had a wound to the hand and the other had one to the foot.

One child was taken by ambulance for treatment and the other was taken by helicopter, however Sheriff Lee Foster said in a statement that neither injury appeared to be life-threatening.
