ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Holiday travel is set to kick off this week as millions of people hit the roads, rails and skies for Thanksgiving.

“Right now it looks easygoing. So I hope it’s easygoing coming back,” said John Jackson, who will travel this Thanksgiving.

A busy holiday travel season is right around the corner. AAA said nearly 82 million people will travel starting Tuesday, including 2.3 million Georgians who will travel mainly by car.

“I’m going to visit my family, eat some creole food,” Jackson said.

Some people who normally travel said this year they are staying home.

“Because of traffic, and ’cause the flights are just getting back together with TSA, and I don’t want to be caught in that,” said Dr. Margaret P. Bean, who is not traveling for Thanksgiving.
