A major chain has AXED its free coffee loyalty scheme - leaving customers livid and threatening to boycott. Leon confirmed it is scrapping its £25 a month Roast Rewards coffee subscription after less than two years.

For £25 per month, the Roast Rewards scheme allowed subscribers to claim up to five coffees per day as long as they were at least an hour apart. The subscription also gave members 20 per cent off the food menu.

But John Vincent, the chain’s founder, said the scheme would be “retired” from Jan 1 as part of an initiative to “remove all the parts that don’t feel like Leon any more”.
