A young Scots woman who was diagnosed with a brain tumour is calling on regulators to approve a drug which could slow its growth.

Brooke MacFadyen, 25, from Coatbridge was diagnosed with a grade II astrocytoma after she started experiencing seizures and underwent cranial surgery last year.

She went under the knife while awake thanks to a new piece of technology called Neuromapper which helps surgeons detect the subtlest of changes in the brain while performing the operation, meaning she could chat and look at her phone during the procedure.

However, she was told that the medical team were unable to remove all of the tumour, which will grow and eventually require radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy.

A drug, Vorasidenib, has been through clinical trials and can halt or even shrink tumours
