Honolulu police have opened an attempted murder investigation after a a 39-year-old man was seriously injured in a shooting Sunday night in Kalihi.
At about 9:44 p.m., officers responded to a report of a gunshot fronting Kingsgate Plaza at 555 N. King Street near Dillingham Boulevard. According to a Honolulu Police Department news release, a witness reported hearing a gunshot and seeing a male fleeing toward Mayor Wright Homes.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services officials said paramedics treated the man for a gunshot wound to the upper body and took him to an emergency room in serious condition.
HPD asks anyone with information on the shooting to call 911 or CrimeStoppers at 808-955-8300.
