Thanksgiving is a family celebration for most Americans in which love, not gifts, is exchanged. However, many will remember to thank God as a family for their blessings. Sadly, some families are struggling to feel thankful when they have lost jobs, or their crops are selling for less, and food is costing more.

Nevertheless, recent events, like the “No Kings” protests remind us that we live in a democracy where we can make changes. I will always remember when my mother was near death, my sisters asked her if she had any important words to leave them. She told them to be grateful.

Although not strictly a church holiday, like Christmas and Easter, Thanksgiving is a time when many families are drawn together and will thank God for their blessings. Americans are also generous and would like
