JOHNSON CITY — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating a fatal shooting involving Carter County Sheriff’s Office deputies who killed a man Saturday afternoon.

The Carter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vandalism report around 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Johnson City at a home in the 100 block of Jarrett-Buck Loop Road. When deputies arrived they found a man with a gun who barricaded himself in a home, officials said.

Officers tried non-lethal ways to get the man out of the home. When they entered the room where he was located, the man shot at officers, according to deputies. Officials said the man also fired shots at a law enforcement drone, destroying it.
