Spanish Springs is appearing in its first state football championship game on Tuesday, while its opponent is making its third straight appearance.
The Cougars face Faith Lutheran for the Class 5A state championship with kickoff set for 3:40 p.m. Tuesday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
There are four state championship game set for Tuesday due to the Formula 1 race taking over Las Vegas (and all its hotel rooms) over the past weekend.
The Cougars rolled to a 12-0 record, the best in school history, and beat Bishop Manogue for the 5A-North Regional championship.
Faith Lutheran beat Centennial, 31-28, for the 5A-South title, after falling behind 28-0. The Crusaders are 6-7 after starting the season 1-6.
Bishop Manogue beat Faith Lutheran for the state title the previous two seasons.
