The current 2025/2026 season is also witnessing a rise, although recent data suggests that this increase may be slowing down and remains within expected levels for this time of year. However, this surge is partly attributed to a variant known as GII.17, which is resurfacing and leading to an increase in infections. Some people may contract it multiple times.
