Meet the Mets
In a one-for-one contract swap, the Mets are sending 10-year veteran Brandon Nimmo to the Texas Rangers for Gold Glove second baseman Marcus Semien.
The Mets gave Nimmo the weekend to decide whether he wanted to waive his no-trade clause or not and after two days of deliberations and a discussion with Jacob deGrom, he agreed.
More than anything, this is a way to move on from the disappointing core of the 2020s and open up room for pieces of the next core to close the decade.
Of course, the Brandon Nimmo move is the start of the offseason plan rather than being an isolated move.
Moving Nimmo showed that David Stearns isn’t going to be swayed by a long tenure or sentimentality, so what does that mean for Edwin Diaz and Pete Alonso?
