The New England Patriots had to let out their biggest sigh of relief all season after watching the clock tick down to zero in Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
They were seemingly playing with house money on the road against a Bengals team without its starting quarterback, Joe Burrow. All-Pro defensive end Trey Hendrickson was out with an injury, and star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was suspended for one game due to a spitting incident with Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey last week.
Throw in the fact that the Bengals were statistically the worst defense in the NFL, and it's clear why many expected the streaking Patriots to stroll to a comfortable win in Week 12.
But it was anything but comfortable for the Patriots.
