KALAMAZOO, MI — A man was sentenced Friday, Nov. 21, after being convicted with multiple counts related to the 2021 home invasion and fatal shooting of Gerryon Kye.

Kalamazoo County Circuit Court Judge Rebecca De’Angelo sentenced Isaiah Jacole Willhite, 24, to 40 to 70 years for felony murder and two years for felony firearm, to be served consecutively.

He was given credit for 703 days of credit for time already served, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said.

A jury convicted Willhite of felony murder, home invasion and other charges in July.

The charges stem from a June 26, 2021, shooting on the 1300 block of North Rose Street.

Officers responded and found 31-year-old Gerryon Kye with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite medical efforts, Kye died at the scene.
