A man died after being shot in Tuscaloosa's Altamont neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit said police responded to the 600 block of 30th Avenue for a shooting and found a man who had been shot to death.

The shooter remained at the scene, police said.

After interviews and processing the scene, questions of self-defense were raised because the man who was killed was armed, according to police.

Capt. Jack Kennedy of the VCU said the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made, but the case will be presented to a grand jury to determine whether charges will be filed.
