LAKEWOOD, Ohio — The road to a United States postage stamp is long, winding and mostly invisible to the public. But for Lakewood photographer David J. Schwartz, the journey has been measured in miles — literally.
Some 22 years, 42 trips and more than hundreds of images of Route 66 later, Schwartz is inviting the public into his Madison Avenue studio Dec. 4–7 for a first-ever viewing of the fine-art prints created from the original photographs selected for the upcoming United States Postal Service (USPS) Route 66 Centennial Stamp Collection.
The Holiday Open Studio — an annual, appointment-only tradition he opens to the public for one long weekend each December — now arrives with a new level of weight.
For the first time, Schwartz will show museum-quality editions of the stamp imagery: H
